Soulja Boy on His Collaboration With Kanye West

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Soulja Yeezys

Our Soulja Boy is about everywhere nowadays, and he’s not only rapping.  Now the boy wonder is also producing and he’s not producing for new emerging artists.  Soulja Boy prefers to go in the bigger pond and play with the bigger fishes in the industry.  Next to the previously-mentioned collabo with Chris Brown, Soulja is reportedly mixing tunes for Kanye West.  Whoa, that’s big, considering that a few months back he was only reppin’ out Kanye’s Nike Air Yeezys at the 2009 MTV Movie award.

MTV got an interview with Soulja Boy regarding his project with Kanye West.

In case you can’t play the video, here’s what Soulja Boy said about his collabo with Kanye.

“Me as a producer, I think I’ve grown tremendously, I’ve been in the studio with Kanye. I did three tracks for him back-to-back.”

And he mentioned that Kanye has been a great partner.

“Me working with him, collaborating different beats. Him showing me a lot of stuff I didn’t know. Me showing him a lot of stuff he didn’t know. He had an ear for my sound. Of course I had an ear for all the stuff he did. Genius! You know what I mean?”

The process is not exactly as easy as you might think, people. Soulja Boy also talked about how Kanye shows him tough love when it comes to producing.

“The process with Kanye — he’ll come in and it depends on what it is. If I’m making the beat from scratch, I’ll just work. If he’s got a sample … It was three different samples that we was working on. On one of them, he was like, ‘I want this to go here, I want you to do this.’ I like when an artist pushes me how he was pushing me. He doesn’t go easy on me. I make it and be like, ‘Here.’ Nah, I had to go over it several times. It can be frustrating too. At the same time, sitting there trying to make a beat for the person that’s right in front of you, it can be a lot of pressure, but it’s all fun. At the end of the day, we’re making hit music.”

And hit music it will be!

Soulja Boy: Between Alleged Eviction and Chris Brown Collaboration

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

Soulja Chris Brown

Being famous and all, Soulja Boy has probably gone through so much. But now he’s forced to go through some more. Soulja Boy is allegedly in danger of eviction of his L.A. pad, due to about $10,000 in unpaid rent. Apparently the landlords are reportedly in rage because Soulja Boy has more than 10 guests fill up the guest parking lot space. The folks at TMZ had the letter from the landlords to our boy:

“We have received complaints of noise disturbances and guests wandering the hallway and Observation Deck. This is a direct violation of your Lease Agreement. Additionally, we were notified that you had over 10 cars parked in guest parking on the evening of September 25th. This is a violation of your lease which states, ‘You may have no more than two overnight guests at a time unless we provide specific approval.'”

What’s so wrong about having friends over? Geez. Some people just can’t stand other people’s success. And speaking of friends, Soulja Boy and his friend, Chris Brown did a collabo on Chris’ upcoming album “Graffiti”, on the track titled “Bad”. Although the two have collaborated before in the song “Yamaha Mama”, Chris Brown is excited about this collaboration, as he told

“Well, me and him, we been on tour together and we’re friends, so I was just like, ‘Yo, I gotta do a record with Soulja Boy,’ Because me and him are always gonna have, like, this kind of energy, just as far as kids, and with him, he does records that are, like, the easiest records ever. I’m not discrediting him, ’cause they’re big records, but he could talk about, ‘I got my shoes on, I got my hat on, but I’m fresh though,’ and it could be something funny. But it’s always something that can be catchy for kids, and I wanna do something that’s real cool for everybody. Me and him did this record called ‘Bad’ — it’s a nice little joint. I talk about this girl, [saying,] ‘She fine.’ So it’s kinda cool.”

Soulja Boy is also thrilled about his work with Chris Brown:

“My approach to it was, ‘If me and Chris Brown ever did a song together, it got to be the best song ever,’ When people hear it, it gotta be automatic — be in all the kids’ heads, all the girls definitely gotta love it, all the females gotta love it. That was my approach to it. I was just thinking, ‘What is the slickest lines I could say to a female to make them fall in love with this record?’ “

So who says Soulja Boy is all about playing around? The guy works harder than anybody and making a lot of money… and of course, is involved with a lot of people that sometimes take up parking spaces. And to object to his success, sounds like… pure jealousy.  Don’t you think?

Snoop Dogg Apologized And Showed Love To Soulja Boy

Monday, September 7th, 2009

Soulja Boy Bank Atlantic Center

Calling all Soulja Boy haters – this one’s for real, y’all.

So if you’ve been hatin’ on Soulja Boy, you gotta listen to what Snoop Dogg has to say.  Snoop gave props to Soulja Boy and supports Soulja Boy in a video:

In case you can’t play the video, here’s what Snoop said:

“N*ggas was always hatin’ on a n*gga when he come out.  They hate on everybody. But when you see a n*gga really know what he doing and it’s your craft and you come hit after hit after hit, n*gga can’t do nothing but say ‘Man, I’m sorry for hating on you, you’se a real n*gga. You hear to stay.’ Soulja Boy, we come from two different worlds, we different generations and what not, but we come together right now to unite and show love — I apologize for all the hate that I had towards Soulja Boy, towards what he was doing in the beginning of his career — as a man, what I understand what this man is and what else he’s doing and how he’s doing what he’s doing, I support him, wrap my arms around him and love him. And I give him the same love I give my family members. So it’s all about bridging the gap and showing love.”

Soulja Boy seems to be raking in support from veteran rappers lately.  Just recently, rapper 50 Cent shows love to our boy by giving him a state-of-the-art tour bus, in which Soulja Boy can work on his tracks.  Newest addition to Young Money, Drake, also praised Soulja Boy for his marketing skills.

“Soulja Boy is the smartest artist of our generation, I think period and I think out of anybody.  Whoever it is, whether it’s him or his team or the people around him, whoever has the thoughts to do the things he does, is genius and I’m so happy for him”

Currently, Soulja Boy is also busy in the studio, working with Kanye West.  S-Beezy is excited about this:

“I’m working on Kanye’s next album right now.  We working together on production because he makes beats and I make beats. Right now I’m remixing a couple of records for him. I’m actually working on [Kanye’s] album while he’s working on my album.”

So, Soulja Boy’s got all the huge names backing him up.  Do you really still wanna hate him?

Soulja Boy’s iPhone App: Romplr

Monday, August 17th, 2009

So you might have heard about this, but if you haven’t, check this out: Soulja Boy has an iPhone app. A digital content agency, Moderati, partners up with Universal Music Group in launching Romplr. Basically, this app will enable you to tweak Soulja Boy’s songs up to the bass, drums, vocals and the sonic elements to make your own remix version. Here’s the demo video.

This app is up for grabs and you can get it for a mere $4.99.  Currently there’s only 3 Soulja Boy tracks that can be tweaked with this app:  “Crank That,” “Hey You There” and the dancefloor hit: “Turn My Swag On.”

To those with Blackberry, don’t worry, although this app is only available for iPhone right now, they’re still developing it to be extended to other mobile platforms such as Blackberry, Android, Java and Ovi.

Ready to be creative?  Get Romplr app at their offical website:

Soulja Boy Got a Tour Bus From 50 Cent!

Friday, August 7th, 2009

Soulja Boy has been the talk of the town these days as he just received an awesome (and ultra generous) gift from rapper 50 Cent for his 19th birthday present:

A tour bus!

Here’s a short clip of our boy S-Beezy on board his newest mode of transportation:

From the looks of it, it’s quite roomy.  Well it has to be roomy as the bus is equipped with a state-of-the-art recording studio, enabling Soulja Boy to still work on his upcoming album: “The DeAndre Way” while he’s touring as part of Lil Wayne’s Young Money Presents The America’s Most Wanted Music festival.

Anybody wanna come on board?  You gotta beat us first! LOL!

Soulja Boy’s New Lambo Chain!

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

Soulja Boy just got himself a new Lamborghini chain.  It’s battery-operated and remote controlled.

Actually some of you might not really notice the chain, but the bath tub inside the bedroom.  You know you’re rich when you can afford the room with a marble-clad bath tub inside the bedroom.  LOL!

What do you think of S0ulja Boy’s new chain?

Inside Soulja Boy’s House

Monday, July 13th, 2009

So Soulja Boy took MTV around his Los Angeles crib (which is really a two-bedroom apartment with two bathrooms and measures up to 3,222 sq ft)  just recently, and in case you missed it, here’s the Soulja Boy LA sanctuary on MTV.

Gotta say, among the Gucci sheet and fancy things, our favorite item of Soulja Boy’s apartment is the kitchen. Y’all hear, girls?  Soulja Boy can’t possibly live off those Hot Pockets and Gatorades.  Somebody must cook for him.  And get this: it’s not the end of Soulja Boy’s episode in cribs.  He’s gonna show his fans the insides of his Atlanta crib.  Nice. Wonder what he has in there.  More Gucci sheets and LV rugs?  Does he really blow his nose with money?

We’ll be waiting, Soulja Boy.
