Another proof of how Soulja Boy is not only talented and good looking, this guy got big brains!  So check it out, S-Beezy was a speaker at the International Consumer Electronics Show 2009 at Las Vegas, Nevada. Aside of S-Beezy, there were several other celebrities who spoke such as Akon and Stevie Wonder. What did he speak about?  Well basically, Soulja Boy told the CES crowd how he made millions marketing his music online at such a young age.

“I was never on the radio, or on TV,” he said.  He explained how he went from burning his self-made CDs and handing them out at school, to uploading MP3s to websites with a dial-up connection.  Can y’all imagine, it was freaking DIAL-UP!  No DSL nothing.  He uploaded his music to SoundClick.com and within a few weeks, he was topping the charts!  With Sound Click, S-Beezy was able to sell 35,000 downloads a day for 99 cents a pop.  You know what that means?  That means Soulja Boy was making $17,500 a day and that’s the number after splitting the moolah 50-50 with the Website.  And the craziest thing is, he was only 15 years old at that time.  So y’all know now that all the cash he showed was really his own blood sweat and tears.

And then he moved to MySpace, got himself a manager and an agent, and once he put his agent’s number on MySpace, thousands of calls were coming in, asking Soulja Boy to perform live.  Y’all know that he was still a kid back then, even his dad wouldn’t let him perform on school nights.  So performing (and getting paid for it) every weekend for a kid who was still working at Burger King at the time, was kinda cool.  For his first performance, he got paid $300.  Kinda small for somebody who’s now earning millions, doncha think?

Soulja Boy went on working, making videos and embedding his clips on his MySpace page.  Before he knew it, his “Crank Dat” video got 40 million views and the music topped the charts for 7 weeks in a row!

Whew!

We’re inpired just by writing this.  Are you?

By the way, here’s an interview video of Soulja Boy on the CES event.  Enjoy!
